Back Successful inaugural PCCS annual conference!
Burning Issues in Cardiovascular Medicine 16th May 2018
On the 16th May 2018 the reformed Primary Care Cardiovascular Society (PCCS) ran its first annual conference at the Hallam Conference Centre in London.
The day was entitled ‘Burning Issues in Cardiovascular Medicine’ and attracted nearly 70 nurses, pharmacists and GPs with a specialist interest in cardiovascular medicine who came together to participate in sessions around current hot topics in cardiovascular medicine.
Dr Kathryn Griffith, PCCS Secretary, chaired the day with support from newly appointed committee member Dr Jim Moore, GPwSI from Gloucestershire.
The day covered a variety of topics such as an update in IHD management, heart failure, Type 2 diabetes and CV risk, Atrial Fibrillation and a fantastic closing session on secondary prevention.
We were delighted that our speaker faculty included Professor Azfar Zaman, Dr Derek Connolly, Professor Andrew Clark and Dr Kevin Fernando with contributions from previous PCCS members and committee such as Dr Terry McCormack, Dr Rosie Heath, Dr Jim Moore and Helen Williams.
The society now plans to build on the success of this meeting with a further conference planned in the Spring of 2019. We are keen to know where you think we should hold it next and will be writing out to you soon to get your views!
For those of you that were unable to make the day we will be publishing some highlights of the content here soon on the website.
With warm wishes
PCCS President Professor Ahmet Fuat and PCCS Secretary Dr Kathryn Griffith
