
Angharad Griffiths (Thomas) is the Lead Heart Failure Pharmacist in Hywel Dda University Health Board. She is responsible for the delivery of the 'One-Stop' diagnostic heart failure clinic and develop clinical initiatives designed to optimise drug therapy in Heart Failure patients.
Angharad received the Masters of Pharmacy degree from Cardiff University in 2009. She then qualified as a pharmacist in 2010 after undergoing a one year training programme at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. She continued to practice as a hospital Pharmacist at Royal Glamorgan hospital for further 4 years whilst gaining a further qualification 'Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy' in 2012. She later accepted the role as a Specialist Cardiology Pharmacist at Prince Charles Hospital in 2014. During her time at Prince Charles Hospital, she earned the non-medical prescribing qualification and a diploma as a practitioner with a specialist interest in Cardiology (PwSI). Since 2019, she had a key responsibility for the delivery of an innovative Pharmacist-led diagnostic Heart Failure clinic. Evaluation of the clinic has been presented at the British Heart Failure Conference and the European Heart Failure Congress. Findings of the evaluation revealed that Consultant waiting time reduced from 16 to 2 weeks and that patients were fully satisfied with their care. Angharad has a passion for developing services to ensure patients receive the best care.
