PCCS and Soar Beyond partner to turn cardiovascular ambition into neighbourhood action

The Primary Care Cardiovascular Society (PCCS) and Soar Beyond have formed a new partnership. It will help multidisciplinary teams turn national cardiovascular priorities into practical improvements in patient care. Together, they will support the ambitions of the Cardiovascular Disease Modern Service Framework (CVD MSF) by building the skills, leadership and shared ownership teams need to deliver joined-up cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic (CVKM) care.
The partnership brings together the PCCS’s clinical leadership and professional networks with Soar Beyond’s experience in workforce development, service redesign and implementation. Beverley Bostock, President of the PCCS, says that delivering ambitious policy depends on a workforce that can deliver care well and is also supported to lead change. Many of the skills this needs are not often taught or used in a planned way across the NHS.
As part of the partnership, the PCCS will review the competency frameworks behind Soar Beyond’s CVRM Accelerator and Clinical Champions programmes, with a view to endorsing them. These programmes will also be opened up beyond pharmacists to nurses, GPs and other professionals.
An early priority is the CVKM Neighbourhood Mobilisation Programme. This proposed 12-week programme will help teams:
- assess local population needs and identify service and workforce gaps
- define and appraise CVKM service models and patient pathways that suit neighbourhood delivery
- agree leadership, workforce roles, accountability and governance
- develop a practical 90-day mobilisation plan with clear measures of success
Soar Beyond and the PCCS are now seeking input from pharmaceutical and life sciences partners to help shape the programme. To find out more, contact Tiba Rao at tiba@soarbeyond.co.uk.
